Police have charged two people after a man was allegedly attacked with a machete in the state's south yesterday.
About 4.20pm (Thursday 13 August 2020), police were called to a home on Hay Street, Corowa, following reports a man had been assaulted.
Police have been told a 39-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were confronted outside the home by a 21-year-old man – allegedly armed with a machete – and a 27-year-old woman.
The younger man allegedly struck the other man with the machete a number of times while the 39-year-old man tried to defend himself with a vacuum cleaner tube.
The younger man also allegedly verbally threatened the 32-year-old woman before leaving the scene with the younger woman.
The 39-year-old man has been treated at Corowa Hospital for lacerations to his back, arms and fingers.
Officers from Murray River Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, the younger pair were arrested at a home on Redlands Road, Corowa, and taken to Corowa Police Station about 8.30pm (Thursday 13 August 2020).
The man was charged with use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, reckless wounding in company, and have custody of an offensive implement in a public place.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Albury Local Court on Monday 21 September 2020.
The woman has been charged with reckless wounding in company, and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.
She was refused bail and is due to appear at the same court on Friday 14 August 2020.
