Police charge man and woman over aggravated assault at Tamworth

A man and woman have been charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated assault in the state's north-east.

Shortly after 3pm on Tuesday 15 November 2020, a man and two women entered a home on Mills Street, South Tamworth, where they allegedly assaulted the occupant, a 39-year-old woman.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District were notified on Tuesday (22 December 2020) and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, officers from the Tamworth Proactive Crime Team assisted by Oxley Police District and the Dog Unit attended a unit on Susanne Street, South Tamworth, about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 23 December 2020), and arrested a 40-year-old man.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with aggravated commit serious indictable offence in dwelling in company – more than $60,000 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.

He was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 24 December 2020).

Following further inquiries, police arrested a 37-year-old woman at Tamworth Police Station, about 5.45pm yesterday (Wednesday 23 December 2020).

She was charged with aggravated commit serious indictable offence in dwelling in company – more than $60,000 and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.

The woman was bail refused to appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 24 December 2020).
