Police charge man and woman over break and enters, Gold Coast District

Police have charged a man and woman following a series of alleged burglaries and thefts from Gold Coast businesses this month.

It will be alleged around 2.30am yesterday morning (Sunday March 17), a man was using a drill and screwdriver to force access to coin-operated washing machines at a Southport laundromat on Olsen Avenue.

Police were notified and attended the scene where they apprehended the man.

Officers then patrolled the area, where they allegedly located a woman in a waiting vehicle nearby, containing power tools.

It is alleged the man is responsible for a series of similar incidents across the Gold Coast which resulted in damage to property valued in the tens of thousands of dollars.

The offences included:

– the alleged break and enter of a Southport laundromat on March 17

– the alleged break and enter of a Pimpama car and dog wash on March 16

– the alleged break and enter of a Parkwood car wash on March 15

– the alleged wilful damage and stealing from a Pimpama car and dog wash on March 14

– the alleged wilful damage and stealing from a Burleigh car and dog wash on March 12

– the alleged wilful damage and stealing from a Burleigh car and dog wash on March 10

– the alleged stealing from at Robina car and dog wash on March 9.

A 37-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with five counts each of wilful damage and stealing, three counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, two counts of receiving tainted property and one count of enter premises with intent.

A 28-year-old Labrador woman has been charged with one count of enter premises and commit indictable offence.

Both are scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, March 18.

Investigations continue, and further arrests are expected.
