Police charge man over armed robbery at service station - Stanmore

A man has been charged following an armed robbery in Sydney's Inner West earlier this week.

About 12.15am (Monday 11 April 2022), police were called to a service station on Parramatta Road, Stanmore, after reports of an armed robbery.

Officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command attended and were told a man entered the service station and threatened an employee with a knife, demanding cash.

The man stole cash before fleeing on foot. The employee was not injured.

Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Catherine Street, Leichhardt, where a knife and several clothing items were seized.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The Leichhardt man was refused bail to appear before Newtown Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 13 April 2022).
