Police Charge Man Over Assault And Robbery At Tocumwal

A man will face court charged over the alleged assault and robbery of a man in the state's south.

About 12am today, (Sunday 5 April 2026), police were told an 18-year-old man left a licences premises in Deniliquin Road, Tocumwal.

A short distance away, he was approached by another man who allegedly demanded money and a watch.

When he refused, the older man then allegedly assaulted the younger man before leaving the scene.

The younger man returned home and been taken him to Finley Hospital with facial injuries.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Murray River Police District identified and located a 28-year-old man.

He was arrested and taken to Finley Police Station where he was charged with assault and robbery.

He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 5 tomorrow, Monday 6 April 2026.
