A man will face court after another man was taken to a hospital with serious facial injuries in the state's Hunter Valley region last year.
Just after 11.30pm on Friday 5 December 2025, emergency services were called to a pub on Cessnock Road, Weston, following reports of an alleged assault.
On arrival, officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District located a 60-year-old man with serious facial injuries.
Police were told the man was playing pool before he was assaulted by a man known to him.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Maitland Hospital for further treatment.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 12pm today (Tuesday 27 January 2026), police arrested a 53-year-old man on First Street, Booragul.
He was taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and affray.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 17 February 2026.
