Police charge man over assault of two Corrective Services NSW officers

Detectives have charged a man over the alleged assault of two Corrective Services NSW officers at Surry Hills last week.

Just before 9.30am on Thursday (3 September 2020), a man being held in custody, allegedly became physically aggressive towards two Corrective Services NSW officers, before biting one on the hand and spitting on the other.

Officers from the State Crime Command's Corrective Services Investigation Unit (CSIU) were notified of the incident and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 32-year-old man was transported from a correctional centre in Sydney's north west to Riverstone Police Station about 9am today (Wednesday 9 September 2020).

He was charged with assault law enforcement officer (not police) inflict actual bodily harm and two counts of assault law officer (not police officer).

The man was remanded in custody and is due to appear via AVL at Blacktown Local Court today.
