A man will face court today charged with a number of property offences alleged to have occurred in the Eastern Suburbs area this month.
Just after 5.00am on Friday 13 June 2025, police were called to a newsagency on Queen Street, Woollahra, following reports of a break and enter.
Police attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command responded and were told a man wearing a hooded jacket had forced entry to the newsagency by kicking the front door.
A nearby resident heard the noise and went to investigate the sound and was allegedly punched numerous times in the head by the man, who rode off on a bicycle before police attended.
The 70-year-old man was treated at the scene by police and Ambulance Paramedics for facial injuries.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 4.00pm yesterday (Thursday 26 June 2025), police were called to a liquor store at Double Bay, where a 28-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting.
The man was taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with four counts of stealing from the Double Bay liquor store and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – inflict actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court later today (Friday 27 June 2025).
