A man has been charged with multiple offences following a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in the state's north.
Between 8.30pm on Tuesday and 5am Wednesday (27 and 28 April 2021), a white Holden Colorado was stolen during a break and enter at a home on Denison Street, South Tamworth.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District were conducting patrols of the area when they saw the vehicle on Quin Street.
A pursuit was instigated and terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
Three people were seen running from the vehicle when it was found abandoned in Lloma Park, shortly before 5am.
Police chased the group and arrested a man, aged 21, following a short struggle.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit, take and drive conveyance, break enter and steal, assault police, resist arrest, custody of a knife, and breach of bail.
The man appeared before Tamworth Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 28 April 2021) where he was formally referred for a health assessment.
Investigations continue.
