Police Charge Man Over Break-in, Assault At Moree

A man will face court today following an alleged aggravated break-in and assault in the state's north.

About 1.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 30 July 2025), a man attended a home on Auburn Street, Moree, and kicked the front door when the owner answered and challenged the man before he ran away.

About 1.30pm, the man attended another home on Allambie Place, Moree, where he forced entry and assaulted a woman and a man with a wooden stick, before he left on foot.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the incidents.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the man for minor injuries to his head.

A short time later, police attended a home on Wales Street, Moree, and arrested a 20-year-old man, where he was taken to Moree Police Station.

The man was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-inflict actual bodily harm, common assault (DV), and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).

He was also charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and dishonestly obtain property by deception for unrelated matters.

The man was refused bail to appear a Local Bail Division Court 5, today (Thursday 31 July 2025).
