Police charge man over Burnie incident

A 37 year old man has been charged over an incident in Ocean Vista in the state’s north-west in the early hours of yesterday morning,

The man was charged with:

Unlawfully carry dangerous article in a public place

Possess a Firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence of the appropriate category.

Use a firearm whilst under the influence of alcohol or another drug.

Carry firearm with the intent to resist arrest.

Fail to take all precautions to ensure safekeeping of firearm.

Possess a controlled plant or its product.

Using controlled plant or its product.

Request another person to send any firearm, firearm part or ammunition by mail to an address in Tasmania.

The man was remanded in custody to appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court at 11.15am today via videolink.
