Police Charge Man Over Drug Supply At Newcastle 27 May

A man will face court charged with 16 alleged offences as inquiries continue into the supply of illicit drugs in the Newcastle area.

Earlier today (Tuesday 27 May 2025), police from the Hunter Region Enforcement Squad - assisted by Operation UTAH officers – executed a search warrant at a property at New Lambton.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized several items of interest including $13,000 cash, 1.2kg cannabis, 98g cocaine, 240g MDMA, an extendable baton, electronics, and fireworks.

The seized drugs have an estimated potential street value of more than $90,000.

Following inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.

There he was charged with 16 offences:

  • Supply prohibited drug (greater than or equal to commercial quantity)
  • Supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity)
  • Supply prohibited drug (greater than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity) x2
  • Supply prohibited drug (less than or equal to small quantity) x5
  • Supply cannabis (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity)
  • Possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose
  • Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit
  • Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and
  • Possess prohibited drug x3

He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 28 May 2025).
