Police charge man over historic sexual assaults near Gloucester

A man is due to appear in Forster Local Court today charged with historic sexual and indecent assault offences.

In February 2019, detectives from Manning-Great Lakes Police District launched an investigation into alleged sexual and indecent assaults committed by a man between 2012 and 2018.

Following extensive inquiries, about 11am yesterday (Wednesday 31 July 2019), detectives attended a rural property on Gloucester Tops Road, Berrico, about 25km west of Gloucester, and arrested a 66-year-old man.

Police will allege between 2012 and 2018, the man sexually and indecently assaulted two women who were employed at the property at the time.

He was taken to Forster Police Station and charged with 36 offences, including aggravated sexual assault, and aggravated indecent assault.

He was refused bail to appear at Forster Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 1 August 2019).

Investigations are continuing.
