Police charge man over possession of drugs and weapons at Ormeau

Police have charged a man after allegedly locating dangerous drugs, weapons and ammunition at an Ormeau home yesterday.

Around 6pm, officers from the Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrols group executed a search warrant at a property on Banks Drive, where they allegedly uncovered methylamphetamine (Ice), Gamma Hydroxybutyric Acid (GHB), methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), prescription medication, two glass pipes, two digital scales, a conductive electrical weapon with three cartridges, two firearms and ammunition.

A 38-year-old Ormeau man was arrested at the scene and charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawfully possessing weapons and one count each of possessing restricted drugs, receiving tainted property, possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with a drug offence and possessing explosives (ammunition).

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, Friday April 12.
