Police charge man over robbery, stabbing - Bexley

A man will appear in court today charged over his alleged role in the stabbing and robbery of another man in Sydney's south.

About 3.30pm on Monday (11 May 2020), a 50-year-old man was waiting in a fast food carpark in Forest Road, Bexley, after arranging to meet with another man to purchase a mobile phone.

Police will allege in court that three cars pulled up and up to six males exited the vehicles and approached the man.

The group allegedly stole the 50-year-old man's phone and cash before stabbing him in the neck, shoulder and stomach.

He was taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from St George Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, two men, aged 39 and 42, attended Kogarah Police Station about 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 May 2020), where they were both arrested.

The 39-year-old man was charged with aggravated robbery with wounding/grievous bodily harm.

The Ashfield man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 13 May 2020).

The 42-year-old man was released, pending further inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
