Police charge man over serious assault - Bondi Junction

A man has been charged while a second has been hospitalised following a serious assault in Sydney's east overnight.

Just before 11.30pm (Thursday 24 December 2020), emergency services were called to Oxford Street, Bondi Junction, after reports of an assault.

Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended, along with paramedics and found a 22-year-old man suffering serious head injuries.

Police have been told the injured man had been waiting at a bus stop with friends when he was allegedly pushed and fell to the ground where he was kicked in the head, knocking him unconscious.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he is being treated for bleeding on the brain and remains in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, investigators attended a Darlinghurst home and arrested a 20-year-old man, known to the injured man.

He was taken to Kings Cross Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

The man was granted conditional to appear at Waverley Local Court on Thursday 14 January 2021.
