Police charge man over serious domestic violence offences at Glen Innes

A man will appear in court today charged with domestic violence-related offences following an incident in the state's Northern Tablelands overnight.

About 11.45pm yesterday (Friday 30 October 2020), emergency services were called to a location on Grafton Street at Glen Innes, following reports of a dispute between a man and a woman, who are known to each other.

Police were told a 33-year-old man physically assaulted a 46-year-old woman, allegedly kicking and punching her in the head, abdomen and back multiple times.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Glen Innes Hospital.

She was later transferred to Armidale Hospital for further treatment and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from New England Police District attended and arrested the man.

He was taken to Glen Innes Police Station and charged with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intimidation.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Saturday 31 October 2020).

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
