Police charge man over sexual assault of woman at Lansdown

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman at Lansdown on the weekend.

On Saturday (5 February 2022), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command commenced an investigation following a report that an 18-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted by a man not known to her earlier that day.

It will be alleged that about 2pm, the woman mistakenly entered the man's vehicle near Liverpool Railway Station. He has then driven her to bushland at Lansdown and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 53-year-old man at a unit complex in Castlereagh Street, Liverpool about 3.15pm yesterday (Tuesday, 9 February 2022).

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with:

  • Incite another to sexually tough them without consent x 1
  • Sexual intercourse without consent x 4
  • Sexually touch another person without consent x 2
  • Aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim x 1

The man has been refused bail to appear at Liverpool Court today (Wednesday 9 February 2022).
