Police charge man over sexual assault -Woolloomooloo

A man will appear in court today charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Sydney last week.

Police will allege, just after 1.30am on Sunday 27 October 2019, a 22-year-old woman left a licensed premise on Oxford Street, Surry Hills, after being separated from friends.

While waiting outside, she was approached by a man and walked with him to Turner Lane, Woolloomooloo, where police were told she was sexually assaulted.

The woman contacted a friend before presenting to Sutherland Hospital and reporting the incident.

Local police attended and spoke with the woman and detectives from Kings Cross Police Area Command commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 38-year-old man was arrested at Fairfield Police Station yesterday (Friday 1 November 2019), just before midday.

About 7.40pm, a search warrant was executed at a house on Whitaker Street, Yennora, where items of clothing were seized for forensic examination.

The man was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 2 November 2019).
