Police charge man over skateboard assault at Wollongong

A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a teenage boy with a skateboard near Wollongong.

About 11.30am today (Tuesday 1 September), police were called to a home on the Princes Highway, Corrimal, following reports of a domestic-related dispute.

Officers from Wollongong Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

On arrival, officers from Wollongong Police District found a 17-year-old boy with injuries to his back. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 19-year-old man, known to the teen, at the home.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Thursday 10 September 2020.
