Police charge man over stabbing - Haymarket

A man has been charged over allegedly stabbing another man in Haymarket today.

About 9.20am (Friday 5 May 2023), emergency services were called to Rawson Place, following reports of a stabbing.

On arrival, officers from Sydney City Police Area Command found a 54-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his lower back, chest, and shoulder.

Police rendered first aid before he was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was later transported to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on scene and taken to Day Street Police Station.

He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The Punchbowl man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 6 May 2023).
