Police Charge Man Over Traffic Offences In Orange

A man has been charged over alleged theft and traffic offences in the state's west.

About 11.50pm on Saturday 3 January 2026, police received multiple calls of a blue motorcycle travelling on Anson Street Orange, where the occupants were attempting to break into a number of houses and parked cars.

A short time later, officers attached to Central West Police District located the motorcycle on the southbound of Anson Street before it came to stop when the rider had lost control near Bonanza Place.

While the pillion passenger left the scene on foot, the rider – a 20-year-old man – was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Orange Police Station where an oral fluid sample was obtained and sent for further analysis.

He was charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, owner drive unregistered vehicle on road/road related area, use uninsured motor vehicle on road, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and rider without helmet ride with one passenger without helmet.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 on Sunday 4 January 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on Tuesday 3 February 2026.
