Police Charge Man Over Truck Theft And Pursuit At Dubbo

A man has faced court after an alleged truck theft and police pursuit in the state's Orana region on the weekend.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to an industrial facility on Richardson Road, Dubbo, about 6.30am on Saturday 30 May 2026, after reports of a vehicle theft.

Police allege about 4.30am the same morning, a 20-year-old man attempted to force entry into several vehicles before stealing a light truck, driving it through a metal fence towards Narromine Road.

Officers arrived at the facility and saw significant damage to a large metal fence.

Following inquiries, police observed the allegedly stolen vehicle travelling on Buddens Road, Dubbo shortly after.

The driver of the vehicle – a 20-year-old man – allegedly drove at a police vehicle which was parked at the intersection of Minore Road and Buddens Road, causing police to take evasive action by moving the vehicle.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued until the intersection of Tantitha Road and Webbs Siding Road, around 35km west of Dubbo, where police arrested the 20-year-old man.

He was subject to a search, during which police allegedly located and seized a substance police believe to be a prohibited drug.

The 20-year-old was also subject to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result for alcohol.

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with,
