Police charge man with 21 offences over sexual touching - south

A man has been charged with 21 offences over alleged sexual touching and assault incidents at a shopping centre in Sydney's south-west.

About 3.15pm on Wednesday 21 December 2022, police were called to a shopping centre on Elizabeth Drive, Liverpool, following reports a man had touched two girls, aged six and nine.

Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries into the incident.

A short time later, a 26-year-old man was stopped by security as he attempted to leave the centre and was arrested by investigators.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of common assault, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.

Yesterday (Thursday 29 December 2022), following further inquiries, investigators charged the man with 18 offences, including:

  • three counts of sexually touch another person without consent
  • four counts of intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years
  • two counts of intentionally sexually touch child aged between 10 and 16 years, and
  • nine counts of common assault.

Police will allege in court that the man sexually touched and assaulted up to nine people at the same shopping centre on Wednesday 21 December 2022.

The Liverpool man was refused bail and appeared at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 22 December 2022, where he was refused bail to reappear at the same court on Monday 9 January 2023.

Investigations are continuing.
