Police charge man with attempt murder, South Australia

A man will face court today following a serious assault on Monday afternoon.

Just before 3.30pm, Monday 10 October, the victim was sitting in his car in a car park off Diagonal Road, when a man approached and allegedly struck him in the head with what is believed to be a blunt weapon, through the open driver's side window. The suspect then left the area.

The victim, a 58-year-old man of no fixed address, was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious and life threatening injuries.

Investigations led police to a house in Oaklands Park last night (Tuesday 11 October) where they arrested and subsequently charged a 32-year-old man from that suburb with attempt murder. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates court today.

The victim remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Anyone who witnessed this incident, has any dashcan or any information that could assist police is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
