Police charge man with attempted murder at Old Reynella, South Australia

A man will face court tomorrow charged with attempted murder after a serious domestic assault at Old Reynella this morning.

Police were called to an Old Reynella home just after 7.15am on Sunday 7 February by reports a man had been stabbed by his partner.

When patrols and paramedics arrived, they found both parties at the scene.

It will be alleged the victim, a man aged in his 30s, sustained serious lacerations to his hand while trying to defend himself. He was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with non-life threatening injuries and will undergo surgery.

A 29-year-old Old Reynella man was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 8 February.

As well as facing serious charges, the man was issued a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides further protection for the victim. Police warn they will not tolerate domestic violence and will take every action available to protect victims.
