Police charge man with attempted robbery at service station at Orange

A man has been refused bail and will appear in court today following an alleged attempted armed robbery at a service station in Orange.

About 12.30pm (Thursday 24 October 2019), a man attended the service station in Summer Street and filled up his car with petrol.

It is alleged the man approached the counter and produced a knife, demanding the console operator hand over cigarettes.

The employee went to the rear office and contacted police and the man left the service station in his car empty handed.

Police from Central Western Police District attended, and an investigation commenced.

A short time later police attended a unit in Burrendong Way, Orange, and arrested a 32-year-old man.

He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with attempted robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and dishonestly obtain property by deception.

He was refused bail and will appear in Orange Local Court today (Thursday 24 October 2019).
