Police charge man with causing grievous bodily harm at Bridgewater

A 41 year old Bridgewater man has been charged over an incident at Bridgewater in the early hours of this morning.

At 1.30am today, the man allegedly assaulted a 49-year-old man, who is known to him at a residence in Munnings Place Bridgewater. As a result of the assault, the victim received burn injuries to his lower torso and legs. There were no one else in the house at the time of the incident.

Bridgewater and Glenorchy uniform police were quick to attend the scene where the offender was located and arrested. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, and he is now in a stable condition.

The alleged offender was interviewed during the afternoon, before being charged with causing grievous bodily harm and detained to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at 10am tomorrow.
