Police charge man with firearm offences - Hume

A man has been charged after a firearm was allegedly located at a home in the Southern Highlands yesterday.

Acting on information, about 10am yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2020), officers from The Hume Police District and the Tactical Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Willow Vale near Mittagong.

During a search of the property, police allegedly located and seized a shortened rifle concealed within a roof cavity and cannabis.

A 21-year-old man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, where he was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess unregistered prohibited firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without holding a licence, possess firearm without appropriate licence

He was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 22 May 2020).
