Police charge man with high-range PCA after pursuit - Bateau Bay

A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after a pursuit in the Tuggerah Lakes area yesterday.

About 11pm (Saturday 31 July 2021), officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District observed a Mazda hatch driving at speed along Lindsay Avenue, Shelly Beach.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle after it entered the carpark of a shopping complex in Bay Village Road, Bateau Bay, however the driver allegedly accelerated away before eventually coming to a stop.

The 23-year-old driver was removed from the vehicle and arrested.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.157.

The Berkeley Vale man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed and high range PCA. His licence was also suspended.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Wyong Local Court on Monday 16 August 2021.
