Police Charge Man With High Range PCA At Lake Illawarra

A man has been charged with high range PCA in the Illawarra region.

About 8.30am today (Wednesday 1 July 2026), police received reports of a vehicle allegedly driving through a school zone, on the incorrect side of the road, before mounting the kerb on Oakland Avenue, Windang.

A short time later, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Highway Patrol located the vehicle in the drive thru of a licenced premise on Windang Road, Windang.

The driver, a 64-year-old man, was subjected to roadside testing which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he underwent secondary breath analysis which allegedly returned a reading of 0.162.

He was charged with high range PCA and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear in Kiama Local Court on Wednesday 5 August 2026, and his licence was also suspended.
