Police charge man with murder after fatal stabbing at Cooma

A man will face court after two men were stabbed, one fatally, in the state's Southern Region today.

About 4am (Monday 15 February 2021), officers from Monaro Police District were called to Cooma Hospital after two men presented suffering stab wounds.

A 19-year-old man was suffering wounds to his arms. He was treated before being taken to Canberra Hospital where he remains stable.

A 38-year-old man, who was suffering stab wounds to his abdomen, neck and chest died on arrival.

Following investigations, a 21-year-old man was arrested about 6am (Monday 15 February 2021) in bushland on Shannons Flat Road, Cooma.

He was taken to Cooma Police Station and charged with murder and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Cooma Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 16 February 2021).
