Police charge man with sexual assault offence - Leichhardt

A man has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a woman he met through a dating application in Sydney's Inner West.

On Sunday 15 March 2020, a 20-year-old woman arranged to meet a man she had been communicating with through a dating application.

The couple met for the first time at a home in Leichhardt, where it is alleged the man sexually assaulted the woman.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 37-year-old man at a premises on Mary Parade, Rydalmere, about 8.30am today (Monday 19 October 2020).

He was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with aggravated sexual assault – inflict actual bodily harm on victim.

The Concord man was granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Monday 9 November 2020.
