Police charge man with six child sex offences - Yagoona

A man has been refused bail before his appearance in court by video link today, charged after an investigation into alleged child sex offences in Sydney's west.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 13-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by man on Sunday 15 March 2020.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 41-year-old man at a home in Yagoona just before 8.30am yesterday (Friday 24 April 2020).

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with six offences,

  • Procure child for unlawful sexual activity (one count)
  • Intentionally sexually touch person between the age of 10 and 16 (two counts), and
  • HHave sexual intercourse with person older than 10 and younger than 14 years (three counts).

Police will allege in court that the incidents occurred after the man offered the child a lift in his white van as she was walking along Marion Street at Bankstown.

The man was refused bail overnight and is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court via AVL today (Saturday 25 April 2020).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
