Police Charge Man With Wounding Over Knife Incident

Police have charged a 22-year-old Berriedale man with wounding and assault offences following an alleged serious assault at Bridgewater.

The man was arrested and taken into custody at Berriedale on Saturday afternoon after police and specialist resources attended a residence as part of their investigations.

It is alleged a serious assault, involving two men known to each other, took place the previous night.

A 27-year-old man sustained knife-related wounds to his head, back and hand during that altercation.

The injured man remains in Royal Hobart Hospital where he is in a stable condition. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police have charged the Berriedale man with wounding and assault.

He has been detained to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court later today.
