Police have charged six boys over an alleged assault in Sydney's west last month.
On Sunday 26 April 2026, officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a 13-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a group of other boys known to him.
Police were told about 7pm the same day, the boy was at a shopping centre on Patrick Street, Blacktown, when a group of teenagers approached and assaulted him before leaving the scene.
The boy was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at Blacktown Police Station before being taken to a hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 10pm the same day, police arrested two boys – aged 17 and 14 – at the shopping centre on Patrick Street, Blacktown.
They were taken to Blacktown Police Station where the older boy was charged with affray, take person in company with intent to commit serious indictable, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and common assault.
He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court on Monday 27 April 2026, where he was refused bail to appear at the same court on Monday 4 May 2026.
The other boy was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other, take person in custody with intent to commit serious indictable, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court on Monday 27 April 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Tuesday 12 May 2026.
Following further inquiries, between Monday 27 April 2026 and today (Friday 1 May 2026), police arrested a further five boys:
- About 3pm on Monday, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Rooty Hill, where they arrested a 13-year-old boy. He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court on Tuesday 28 April 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at court on Tuesday 9 June 2026. Following further inquiries, on Friday, the boy was arrested and further charged with robbery and breach of bail. Police will allege the boy was involved in a robbery at the shopping centre on Patrick Street Blacktown on Wednesday 29 April 2026.
- About 5.50pm on Monda, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command arrested a 16-year-old boy at Liverpool Police Station. He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company. He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court on Tuesday 28 April 2026.
- About 2pm on Wednesday 29 April 2026, police charged a 12-year-old boy with reckless grievous bodily harm – in company. He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court on Thursday 30 April 2026, where he was refused bail to appear at Children's Court on Thursday 11 June 2026.
- About 7.20am today (Friday 1 May 2026) police arrested a 17-year-old boy in Minchinbury area. He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm – in company. He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court today.
