Police Charge Teen After Pursuit - Greenacre

A teen will face court today charged over an alleged pursuit in Sydney' southwest overnight.

About 11.30pm (Monday 26 January 2026), police were patrolling the Greenacre area when they located an unregistered Volkswagen Golf parked on Robinson Street.

As police approached the vehicle the driver allegedly drove from the scene with officers attached to Auburn Highway Patrol commencing a pursuit to stop the vehicle.

The pursuit continued throughout Greenacre before ending on Napoleon Street, where the driver and two passengers attempted to run from the scene on foot.

Following a foot pursuit, police arrested the alleged driver – a 17-year-old boy – and the two passengers – two men aged 21 and 22 – before taking the teen to Auburn Police Station and the two others to Bankstown Police Station.

Police commenced a search of the vehicle locating and seizing a baseball bat, several jerry cans, ski masks and phones. All items will undergo forensic testing.

Following inquiries, the two older men were released without charge pending further investigations.

The 17-year-old was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, and use Class A vehicle number plate not correctly fixed.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before children's court on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
