Police charge teen after stabbing in Brunswick

Moreland Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a teenager following a stabbing in Brunswick earlier this month.

It's believed two unknown males have had a verbal altercation with an 18-year-old man before they chased him to the middle of Sydney Road and Brunswick Road about 4.45pm on 15 November.

The victim was allegedly assaulted and stabbed outside a convenience store before the offenders fled on foot.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigating the incident arrested a 17-year-old Fitzroy North boy in Coburg yesterday.

Officers seized a large hunting knife and a quantity of drugs during the arrest.

The teenager has since been charged with intentionally cause injury, assault with weapon, affray, possess drug of dependence and possess controlled weapon.

He will face a children's court at a later date.

Enquiries into the second person involved remain ongoing.
