Police charge teen after stabbing in North Richmond

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a teenager following an alleged stabbing near North Richmond train station last week.

A 53-year-old man was allegedly stabbed on Victoria Street about 10.25am on Thursday 31 August.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A 16-year-old Morwell boy and a 16-year-old Mount Evelyn girl were arrested in Morwell yesterday.

While searching the pair, officers located and seized a kitchen knife and cannabis in the possession of the 16-year-old boy.

The 16-year-old boy has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, assault with a weapon and possess controlled weapon.

He was bailed to appear before a children's court at a later date.

The 16-year-old girl was released pending enquiries.

The parties are believed to be known to each other.
