Police Charge Teen Over Pursuit At Liverpool

A teenage boy has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney's southwest yesterday.

Just before 6pm (Wednesday 6 March 2024), officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command sighted a Volkswagen T-Cross on Maxwells Avenue, Sadlier.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle; however, when it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued along Sutton Road and onto Sadlier Avenue before the vehicle came to a stop on South Liverpool Road, Heckenberg.

Police will allege the driver and three passengers ran from the vehicle, with the driver jumping the fence of a home on Jugungal Place.

With the assistance of the dog squad, the driver – a 14-year-old boy – was arrested hiding in a garage nearby.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Thursday 7 March 2023).

As investigations continue, anyone who may have any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
