A teenage boy has faced court following a vehicle theft in the state's Central West yesterday.
Officers attached to Central West Police District were called to a carpark on Woodward Street, Orange, about 6.45am yesterday (Sunday 28 June 2026), following reports a car had been stolen.
Police arrived and were told a Mazda SUV had been stolen from the carpark between 5.55am and 6.45am the same day.
Officers allege the vehicle was then driven to a service station on Molong Road, Orange, before the vehicle's passenger filled up the car with fuel, and left without paying.
Police also allege that afterwards, the vehicle was seen on Southern Feeder Road, Orange, driving dangerously, before it allegedly crashed at the road's intersection with Woodward Street.
Four occupants reportedly fled from the vehicle following the crash.
Following inquiries, about 7.15pm the same day, police arrested a 15-year-old boy on Woodward Street.
He was taken to Orange Police Station, where he was charged with,
· Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
· Never licensed person drive vehicle on road
· Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
· Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
· Dishonestly obtain property by deception.
He was refused bail and faced a children's court yesterday (Sunday 28 June 2026), where he was formally refused bail to reappear before a children's court tomorrow (Tuesday 30 June 2026).
