Police charge teens over break and enter at Wagga Wagga

Two boys have been charged after allegedly stealing from a home in Wagga Wagga overnight.

About 3.30pm (Tuesday 2 February 2020), a group of males allegedly approached the rear of a home on Freer Street, Wagga Wagga, and spoke with the occupant, a 78-year-old woman.

Police have been told the boys claimed to be looking for a missing bicycle.

While the woman spoke with the group, it's alleged two of the boys entered the woman's home and stole cash from her purse, before fleeing on foot.

Police were notified and officers from Riverina Police District attended a short time later.

Two boys – both aged 13 – were arrested about 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 2 February 2021) and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

They were both charged with aggravated break and enter in company and granted conditional bail to appear in a children's court on Wednesday 31 March 2021.

Inquiries continue.
