Three men - two aged 19 and a 20 year old - have been charged after another man was critically injured during an alleged assault in Sydney's inner city over the weekend.
Just after 6.50pm on Saturday 28 February 2026, emergency services were called to Gardeners Road, Rosebery, following reports a man had been assaulted.
Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command were told two men, aged 32 and 28, were walking along the street when they became involved in an altercation with three unknown males.
During the incident, the 32 year old man was allegedly assaulted before the offenders fled the scene in a red Nissan hatchback.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 32 year old man at the scene before transporting him to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. The 28 year old man was uninjured.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, between 1pm and 10pm yesterday (Sunday 1 March 2026), officers from South Sydney Detectives arrested two 19 year old men and a 20 year old man at their respective homes.
Police also seized a red hatchback for forensic examination.
Two of the men were taken to Surry Hills Police Station and a 19-year-old to Gladesville Police Station.
All were charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
The three men were refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Monday 2 March 2026).
