Police charge three over cannabis supply at Lightning Ridge

Three men have been charged after cannabis and cash were seized in the state's north west.

About 5.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 2 June 2020), officers from Central North Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Fantasia Street, Lightning Ridge.

During the search, police seized a total of 1.6kg of cannabis leaf, more than $30,000 cash, drug paraphernalia and three mobile phones.

Three men – aged 20, 24 and 33 – were arrested at the home and taken to Lightning Ridge Police Station.

They were all charged with supply cannabis (between indictable and commercial quantity), and deal with property proceeds of crime.

They have been granted conditional bail to appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court on Tuesday 14 July 2020.

Central North Police District Commander, Superintendent Andrew Hurst, said it is important for members of the community to speak up if they know anything about drug supply or drug-related offences.

"The members of our community are our eyes and ears and we rely on you to report anything suspicious," Supt Hurst said.

"We encourage anyone with information about the supply or manufacture of prohibited drugs to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
