Police charge three teens over Doonside assault

A man is being treated for a serious head injury after being allegedly assaulted by three teenagers at Doonside overnight.

Police have been told the 41-year-old man was injured after allegedly being hit in the head with a bat or pole during a fight in Hammon Avenue about 7pm (Sunday 11 August 2019).

He was treated at the scene before being taken to Blacktown Hospital; he was then transferred to Westmead Hospital where he remains in intensive care.

Following inquiries, officers from Blacktown Police Area Command arrested three boys, aged 13, 14 and 16, at a home nearby a short time later.

They were taken to Blacktown Police Station where the two older boys have been charged with reckless cause grievous bodily harm, affray and being armed with intent; the youngest boy has been charged with affray, and being armed with intent. All have been refused bail to appear in a children's court today (Monday 12 August 2019).

All parties are believed to be known to each other.
