Police charge two after armed robbery - Ashfield

A man and a teenage girl have been charged after an armed robbery at Ashfield Railway Station on Wednesday.

Just after 1am Wednesday (12 July 2023), officers from Burwood Police Area Command were called to Ashfield Railway Station, following reports of a robbery.

Police were told a man threatened a 21-year-old woman with a machete before stealing her bag and mobile phone.

She suffered a laceration to her finger and was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Following inquiries, at 7pm yesterday (Thursday 13 July 2023), officers executed a search warrant at an address in Whalan. Several items connected to the robbery were seized during the search of the property. A 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old teenage girl were arrested at the property and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

The man was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon and common assault. He was bail refused to appear before Mount Druitt Local Court today (Friday 14 July 2023).

The teenage girl was charged with four counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception. She will appear before a children's court on Monday 24 July 2023.
