Police charge two after armed robbery at Waterloo

A man and woman have been charged following an alleged armed robbery in Waterloo yesterday.

About 2.40am (Tuesday 10 March 2020), two people entered a convenience store on Potter Street, allegedly threatening an employee with a knife.

They left with cash, cigarettes and tobacco and were driven away in a white sedan that was parked outside.

The male employee was not injured and was the only person in the store at the time.

Following inquiries by officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command, at 10am on the same day, the car believed to be involved in the alleged armed robbery was located in Neich Lane in Burwood.

Shortly after, a man and a woman were arrested at a hotel nearby.

Upon searching the vehicle, police allegedly located knives, cash and tobacco.

The 48-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

Both were refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 11 March 2020).
