Police charge two after investigations into drug supply - Southern Highlands

Two men have been charged with a total of more than 70 offences in relation to the alleged ongoing supply of prohibited drugs in The Hume region.

In April 2021, officers attached to The Hume Police District established Strike Force Luccarda to investigate the distribution of methylamphetamine in the Southern Highlands.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives – with assistance from the Public Order Riot Squad – executed a search warrant at a home in Moss Vale, about 6.45am yesterday (Thursday 8 July 2021).

During the search, police seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, cash, electronic scales, a mobile phone and an extendable baton.

Shortly after, a second search warrant was executed at a home in Moss Vale, where police seized cannabis, a mobile phone and other electronic devices.

Two men – aged 36 and 55 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station.

The 36-year-old man was charged with 60 offences, including

- 55 counts of supply prohibited drug,

- ongoing supply of prohibited drug,

- conduct drug premises,

- possess prohibited drug,

- deal with proceeds of crime, and

- possess prohibited weapon.

The 55-year-old man charged with 10 counts of supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

Both men were refused bail and appeared in Picton Local Court yesterday, where they were formally refused bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on Wednesday 8 September 2021.

Investigations under Strike Force Luccarda are continuing and further arrests are expected.
