Police charge two after Princes Freeway pursuit

Detectives from Geelong Crime Investigation Unit have charged two women following a police pursuit yesterday.

Police were called to Cobblebank yesterday following reports of car being stolen.

It's believed the Nissan ute was allegedly stolen from a Western Freeway service station about 5.20am.

A pursuit was initiated on the Princes Freeway near Lara where the vehicle was intercepted and three people arrested.

A 30-year-old Dandenong woman and a 23-year-old Mount Pleasant woman were both interviewed by police.

Both have been charged with theft of motor vehicle, possess a drug of dependence, and weapons offences.

They were bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates' court on 20 January.

A 24-year-old Sebastopol man remains in hospital under police guard and is expected to be interviewed at a later time.
