Police Charge Two After Pursuit At Junee

A driver and a passenger have been charged following a police pursuit in the state's Riverina this morning.

Just after 1.00pm (Sunday 1 March 2026), an officer from Riverina Sector Highway Patrol attempted to stop the driver of a grey Holden Commodore on the Olympic Highway, Bomen.

When the driver failed to stop as directed, a police pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, a female passenger allegedly threw items from the vehicle towards the pursuing police vehicle.

Upon reaching Albert Street, Junee, the driver of the Commodore sedan allegedly reversed at speed and rammed the police vehicle, causing all airbags to be activated. The vehicle was then driven away.

A short time later, police found the Commodore abandoned in the rail corridor near Junction Street, Junee.

Following inquiries, police attended a house in Percy Street, Junee, where they arrested a 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman.

They were both conveyed to Junee Police Station, where the man was charged with six offences - use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, police pursuit - not stop - driver dangerously, drive whilst disqualified, drive unregistered and uninsured vehicle and display misleading number plate. He was also charged with an outstanding warrant.

The woman was charged with intentionally throw object at vehicle - risk safety and intentionally damage property.

The man and woman have both been refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Monday 2 March 2026).

The male police officer was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for scans and treatment for upper body injuries.
